The "BT Coach" application was created to assist individuals in practicing exposure and response prevention (ERP) at home as part of the treatment for tics and Tourette Syndrome. In this form of behavioral therapy, individuals are taught to control their tics for extended periods (response prevention) while learning to endure the premonitory urges or tic alarms that signal an upcoming tic (exposure). When doing homework exercises, the app emulates the supportive function of a therapist by guiding users to suppress their tics and pay attention to tic alarms. This tool is appropriate for individuals of all ages, including children and adults.
